CLUB RULES

  • Walks will begin punctually - please be at rendezvous on time.

  • NO UNDER 16's ,  NO DOGS permitted on any walk.

  • 'A' & 'B' Leaders must arrange a suitable substitute for any walks they are unable to attend.

  • Walkers are reminded to stay with the group at all times during a club walk.

  • Close all gates except when meant to be left open.

  • Observe the country code.  Respect the countryside and those who work within it.

  • All litter including 'biodegradable' waste such as teabags, orange peel, banana skins, apple cores, etc should be taken home - leave nothing!

PERSONAL GEAR & EQUIPMENT

  • A compass and suitable map of the area (and knowledge of their use) should be carried by each walker.
  • All members should have proper walking boots to protect ankles, a complete waterproof outfit, personal first aid kit, emergency bivi bag, spare clothing, ruck-sack and liner, food (including emergency rations), drinks (hot and cold|), whistle and torch.  For your own comfort do not wear denims, once wet they take a long time to dry and wind blowing on the wet material makes legs extremely cold.

GROUP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take care when proceeding downhill as accidents on descent are more likely, especially towards the end of a walk .

  • Do NOT jump from walls or fences and take care not to damage same.

  • Members should always carry adequate equipment in their ruck-sacks on all walks - even on shorter walks and in good weather.  Conditions in mountains and hills can change suddenly.

  • Members should accept the Leader(s) decision.

  • Mid-Ulster Walking Club believes strongly in a "leave no trace" policy .  Please click to read .
